REVIEW | BEVÉE Bags
Even superheroes have their baggage, but we seriously don’t need to display it all for everyone to see. That’s why I love small bags–I’ve got what I need, but I’m not weighed down by useless, shoulder-wrenching junk. They’re practical and chic, end of story. I used to carry a giant bag with the whole nine yards and the kitchen sink stuffed in. But now I know better–I’ve got my essentials down to a science. Cue BEVÉE, a cool new Seattle-based luxury handbag and accessories brand that recently blipped onto my radar.
I sat down to chat with founders of BEVÉE, Sasha Muir (founder of nail polish all-star butter LONDON) and DT Levy (fashion exec and former board member of butter LONDON) to learn more about their brand. Sasha and DT, both longtime professionals in the fashion industry, realized that your bag needs to pull its weight and then some, much like a personal sidekick. You’ve got things to do and your bag should be there to enhance, not hinder, your performance. It’s the Batman to your Robin. The Watson to your Sherlock. The intern to your fashion editor. You get the picture.
BEVÉE has two bags out right now: the 24/7 ‘continental’ Sidekick ($195) and the 24/7 ‘trifold’ Sidekick ($215). Each have the signature quail logo and come saturated pastels like orchid, sky, and hemlock or neutrals like navy, black, and cream.
Here are my three favorite ways the Sidekicks kick ass:
- Detachable chain. Turn your bag into a clutch to better suit your evening wear.
- Detachable keyfob. This is my most favorite detail of these bags. BEVÉE sells matching leather key fobs separately–and they hook onto the back of your bag (where the chain attaches) so you don’t lose your keys.
- Detachable billfold. Imagine you’re really on the go, and you want to go completely hands and shoulder-free like the boys do. Just unsnap the inside billfold with your cards and ID, and cartwheel out the door. Or not.
I’ve been wanting to focus more on developing my own photography skills lately, so I was pumped to drop by BEVÉE headquarters and shoot their beautiful bags for my review. Thanks Cassidy as always for being my mannequin. <3
INSIDE THE BAG:
Pictured: the 24/7 ‘trifold’ Sidekick. See those metal snaps near my ID? That’s the detachable billfold I’m talking about. The rest of the bags has lots of zips, pockets, and card slots to keep all your stuff organized. To see my take on what’s in my bag, see the BEVÉE blog.
