Valentine's Day used to be one of my favorite holidays until back in
2004 my husband was activated by his Army National Guard to head over to
Iraq for 18 months. The Army picked Valentine's Day of all days to
ship them out. At the time we had just celebrated our 7th wedding
anniversary 6 days earlier on the 8th and our daughter had recently
turned 5. He did return home safely, but since then, Valentine's Day
always seems to approach us with a bit of melancholy. After 9 years we
felt we were due a good old fashioned date night. We just celebrated
our 16th wedding anniversary and our daughter is now 14 and we have a 5
year old son. But alas, what to wear? Well it just so happens that I
picked up this perfect red DVF dress while I was in New York. Now, what
shoes?
Decision made. I went with the nude pumps. I adore Diane Von Furstenberg dresses. They are so flattering on all figures.
Dan surprised me by making reservations at a cute little French
restaurant in Mukilteo called Smugglers Cove. Afterward, we came home
and had some champagne.
