In honour of their 175th anniversary, luxury jeweller Tiffany & Co. has released a new jewellery collection entitled RUBEDO.  It features classic Tiffany & Co. designs (think lockets, cuffs, rings, and pendants) in a limited edition metal.  To form the collection, metallurgists experimented with different alloys until they achieved the desired colour, radiance, strength, and weight.

The collection is named after the medieval philosophy of alchemy; rubedo was the title of the very highest achievement: when matter and spirit fused to create something of rare beauty.  The Tiffany & Co. RUBEDO collection combines the impact of gold, shine of silver, and the warmth of copper, giving it a unique and eye-catching finish.  The overall look is similar to rose gold, but has a cooler undertone and an unmistakable luster.

The Tiffany & Co. RUBEDO collection is available in stores now, and is engraved with the founder’s signature.  It will continue to be available through 2013, but will not carry the limited edition signature after 2012.
