Although the sunny summer days of long maxi dresses and flowing skirts seem like a distant memory, it doesn’t mean that a long hemline is just for warm weather. A floor length fall skirt can be romantic and elegant, and is an easy way to transition through seasons.
I couldn’t believe my luck when I discovered this gorgeous vintage skirt at Value Village in downtown Vancouver. White is a very hard colour to shop vintage because it shows everything, including its age. Not only was my $10 skirt in perfect condition, it was pressed and still had the dry-cleaning tag on it.
I decided to keep my outfit minimalistic and simple, drawing attention to the sleek slit and smooth silhouette of the skirt. I paired it with a maroon V-neck long sleeve top, and accessorized it with a few dark bangles, a Banana Republic straw clutch (also thrifted from Value Village), a sash belt, and a long necklace. To give my feminine outfit an unexpected twist, I wore my chunky suede ankle boots, which I’ve been itching to wear since I purchased them last winter. Yes, the summer has left us, but there’s always an upside to everything.
