I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love that my parents' house looks like it's nestled in some rustic scene where birds and squirrels dominate the landscape. That's actually not too far from the truth, but they are still in a relatively suburban area. In any case, the backdrop made for a cool ambiance in these photos.

This year, for Christmas Eve dinner, I decided to go with simple black. I had these shoes I wanted to wear and thought they'd stand out really well on their own, with a tonal sweater to accentuate the emerald below. All in all, I like the way this turned out: easy yet pulled together.
