I had such an amazing time in NYC last week & cannot wait to share all my pictures with you. Of course, the main reason for my trip was the Lucky Magazine FABB Conference, which was bigger and better than ever. This was my 3rd time attending FABB and it was, in my opinion, the best one yet! The theme of this year's conference was "How to Make It on Your Own Terms". Here are some photos & a short recap from our day:
A greater number of bloggers were invited this year, so it required a larger venue ~ the beautiful New York Times building was the perfect setting for our day.
Waiting in line before the conference started (left to right: me,
Alyson,
Tiffany,
Jen,
Lexi) ~ it started at 8am, so if I look a little tired, it's because I hadn't had my coffee yet! {What I'm wearing: Zara shirt (last seen

here), Forever 21 necklace (last seen
here) & tote}
The always stunning Brandon Holley, editor-in-chief of Lucky, welcomed us & kicked off the day in a gorgeous floral sheath & a lust-worthy pair of Nicholas Kirkwood heels.
One of my favorite panels discussing the big picture of blogging {left to right: Lauren Sherman (executive digital editor for Lucky), Leah Chernikoff (executive editor for Fashionista), Annie Georgia Greenburg (New York editor for Refinery29), Leandra Medine (founder of The Man Repeller)}. Leandra's quote that really got me thinking: "As long as the site remains me, it's never going to be bigger than me."
The amazing Rachel Zoe being interviewed by Brandon Holley - I loved hearing her talk about the importance she places now on her family & being a mom. I also thought it was very interesting that both Brandon & Rachel were told at one point in their careers that they were "too nice" to be in the fashion industry & that they wouldn't get very far unless they changed that characteristic (obviously not true)!
Another inspiring group of women discussing how they overcame the challenges of building their businesses & how they manage growth {left to right: Deb Schwartz (executive editor for Lucky), Susan Lyne (chairman of Gilt Groupe), Lauren Bush Lauren (co-founder of FEED Projects), Aliza Licht (senior vice president of global communications for Donna Karan International), Erica Domesek (founder of P.S. I made this...)}
Though I didn't think it was possible, Lauren Conrad was even more adorable in person (notice her fabulous Mary Jane pumps...from her line at Kohl's & coming to stores soon!)
The hysterical Simon Doonan (brand ambassador for Barneys New York) served as an afternoon pick-me-up & kept us all laughing as he interviewed Anna Sui.
We ended the day with a cocktail party ~ bloggers mingled, munched on delicious hors d'oeuvres & discussed the day's events.
I loved getting to talk with the Lucky editors, share my favorite parts from the conference & discuss future plans with them. They all worked so hard to make this event an entertaining & beneficial learning experience. I, for one, am incredibly grateful for how committed Lucky is to helping bloggers become successful.
