Perhaps it was the blazing sunshine or my long-anticipated yoga class, but last Saturday felt balmier and more cheerful than ever. In fact, it seemed so spring-like outside I was tempted to don my new piped navy trench for a few afternoon errands. I regretted my choice after a few hours though, when the sun disappeared behind cloud and fog and left a familiar, wintry chill in its wake. By the evening when the boy and I went to his brother and sister-in-law's place for dinner, I was back in a wool coat.
Poor outerwear decisions aside, I've been wearing this chevron-striped intarsia sweater at least twice a week since I bought it. On days when I don't want to make an effort, the sweater's graphic statement is strong enough to stand on its own. But when I want to dress up, the stripes become a terrific canvas for accessories: a hair bow, silver bow-and-pearl earrings, a few rings, and my oft-used polka dot clutch. Splashes of colour (orchid sneakers, fuchsia nails and lips) are a bright counterpoint to all the navy in this outfit.
I'm crossing my fingers for good weather and relaxing times as the long weekend approaches and my family gears up to celebrate Chinese New Year. Have a great weekend!
