It doesn't matter what day of the week it is, my brain is constantly in
styling mode. When I make plans, my mind scans my wardrobe and builds
outfits in my head faster than Cher Horowitz's computer so when my NYE
afternoon activity was going to involve NYC landmark and a formal
dining room, I was on overdrive and my creativity was short circuiting. The Plaza for lunch with my sister & oldest niece was going to need a great look!
Just as I was staring blankly into my closet thinking
to myself, "I have nothing to wear", I spotted this Simply Be PU Box Pleat Skirt
that had been hanging in my closet just waiting to be worn.
Inspiration came (unexpectedly, as it
always does) in the form of a schoolgirl-inspired clean, ladylike look
with my own twist. I built my look around the skirt
paired it with this simple V neck sweater from Forever 21+ , black
opaque tights, and Lela Rose for Payless loafer pumps. Accessories? Obviously! I threw on a black cocktail ring & one of my favorite Stella &
Dot pieces, the Bahari Necklace.
Accept the inspiration and OWN it.
Decide what piece is the
focal point, and build the rest of your look around that.
