I bought this cardigan last year at H&M for the ridiculous price of $5 and per my usual let-it-sit-in-the-closet modus operandi - I did just that.
But I had a viable reason for doing such.
You see, every time I attempted to don this item the word Classic reverberated in my ears and visions of pencil skirts and kitten heels danced through my head.
And thus, I would retreat.
I can think of many words to describe my personal style but Classic is not one of them.
And that's not to say that I don't appreciate the aesthetics of a classic look.
But for my personal taste and comfort, I don't often (if ever) wear uber classic ensembles, which I'm sure is quite apparent by scrolling through my posts.
I mean, I tried to dress up a sweatshirt for goodness sakes!
Why I was so mentally blocked and haunted about how to work this simple little piece into
my own style is seriously beyond me.
But I was stumped - for a year!
Enter last Monday, and as if hit by a stroke of outfit genius, I figured it out.
Skinny jeans, a crisp white tee, and black pumps - which oddly enough, are all classic pieces in their own right.
To be honest, I kind of felt like an idiot for not coming up with this outfit sooner.
But instead of beating myself up about letting the Classic voice get the best of me for all that time, when the solution was so simple,
I'd rather focus on the fact that my cute little cardi was finally able to come out and play.
All in all it was a happy ending.
