Level of difficulty: Easy
Cost: ~$6 for plain phone case (image below), other materials readily available at home.
Time taken: 1-2 hrs
Step 1: Trace out your phone case on a piece of cloth. Be sure to trace on the underside of the cloth.
Step 2: Use a ruler to measure 4mm from the edge of the tracing. Remember, it doesn't have to be perfect!
Step 3: Cut it out. Cut small curves at the edges and a hole for the camera.
Step 4: Using clear nail polish, paint over the edges to prevent fraying. Wait for it to dry then repeat a few more times.
{Tip: You can paint over the entire cloth too to prevent it from getting dirty easily. Before painting, see if the nail polish will affect the cloth colour by testing it out on the cloth you cut from (not the cutout) . Do not paint over with clear glue. It makes the surface rough}
If you already see frayed edges, fold it over to the underside and paint or glue it down. If you're using glue, make sure it dries clear.
Step 5: Personalize it! Cut out your initials on the bottom of the cloth. Then, glue the cloth to the phone case. If you want, add something like cloth or paper behind the initials cut out. I added 2 small pieces of paper behind. Use nail polish or glue to go over the initials again.
You're done! Get creative and add buttons, stitches, beads, lace, sequins etc. to your phone case!
Hope you enjoyed this post! If you have decorated your phone case using this tutorial, do send me a picture of it, I'll love to feature it (with credits and links to you) on my blog.
