You know I love me some Marni. Time and time again, Consuelo Castiglioni rolls out the best accessories that epitomize a I-don't-take-myself-too-seriously attitude and are both fun and funky. These earrings are no exception. The $400 price tag, however, isn't so fun. You know where I'm going with this... so here is one of my favorite DIY projects lately.
Tools and Materials:
Nail polish, in two colors
Plastic jewels
Clip on earring backs (or earring backs of your choice)
Black leather
Scissors
Strong glue
Scrap paper and pencil
If your jewel's aren't colorful, or if you want to customize the color scheme, paint your jewels with nail polish and let dry.
Apply a second coat of polish if necessary.
While the polish dries, sketch out the shape of the earring back on paper.
Cut out the paper shape, and trace onto the leather. Cut out two pieces, one for each earring.
Once the nail polish is dry, use the super glue to affix the jewels to the leather and allow to dry. Touch up any spots on the jewels-- I went back and added a drop to the holes in the jewels that you can see below.

Glue earring backs onto the back of the leather, letting the glue dry over night.
