Chic for cheap: With two old Chanel eyeshadow palettes needing to be cleaned out of my makeup bag, what better way to reuse and recycle than a stylish compact mirror?

What you'll need:

• An old eyeshadow palette
• A metal nail file (or something similar)
• A few Q-tips
• Some dish soap

Step 1: Wedge the nail file between the palette and edge of your compact while working to push up on the palette.

Step 2: Once the plastic cover has been lifted, detach the individual colour boxes from the base of the compact.

Step 3: Use Q-tips and dish

soap to clean out leftover makeup residue.
