Cupcake Crawl

As I mentioned a few months ago, I made it my mission to try most of the pumpkin cupcakes in Manhattan this fall. Such a difficult task, I know! I made sure to document my calorie, I mean cupcake, crawl.

First up, Sprinkles!

Oh, and then again a second time. For good measure, ya know?

Next stop, Magnolia Bakery.

And then came Georgetown Cupcake.

And then I tried Crumbs

And because I miss having Molly’s down the street from my apartment in Chicago, I went to the NYC location.

And finally Baked & Wired. This one was in the Georgetown area though. Gosh, I’m such an over achiever. I personally tried majority of the Pumpkin Cupcakes on the East Coast, not just New York. Remember, I’m not doing this for myself. I did this for you. ;)

So you want me to pick the best one, huh?

Not Crumbs, I’ll tell you that. I had never met a cupcake I didn’t like until I tried Crumbs. I don’t know if it’s the monster size or what, but I just don’t like them. Sue me.

I gotta tell ya, Molly’s is better in Chicago. End of story.

Magnolia is good, obvi, but not the best pumpkin cupcake I’ve consumed.

Sprinkles and I are essentially best friends. (It’s not my fault all of my office places in Chicago and New York have been within 2 blocks of Sprinkles, okay?! Give me a break.) I will NEVER turn down a Sprinkles Cupcake. Heck, I even had them at my going away party in Chicago. (Topped with bows, of course!) I feel so badly saying this, but they weren’t my favorite Pumpkin Cupcake. Sorry Sprinkles!! Don’t get mad at me and add more calories to my weekly cupcakes! I still love you.

So I don’t really know who to pick out of my top 2… Baked & Wired or Georgetown.

I loved the maple-infusion in the Georgetown Cupcake. I also like the more petite size.. Easier for eating without a fork! But Baked & Wired was the most moist cake I’ve ever had. It was phenomenal. Pumpkin in the icing, too! But the whole euro-paper-style thing was annoying. Much harder to eat!

It’s also a difficult decision to make because I’ve only had one of each from the two of these places. So until I have a few more testing opportunities, we’ll leave it at that… A tie between Georgetown Cupcake and Baked & Wired.

PS – Thank you so much for all of your bakery suggestions in New York City. I will be trying them eventually, I promise! :)

Oh, and because I hadn’t had enough cupcakes this fall, I had a few of the Salted Caramel cupcakes from Sprinkles. Okay, maybe more than a few. THEY ARE THAT GOOD, PEOPLE. I’m not sure if I can wait until next fall for another…

Alright guys, that’s all for today. You can find me at the gym. xx
