Yesterday, Robbie and I arrived back in Chicago after a seriously amazing trip to New Mexico to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary and take a (very) belated honeymoon.  I am exhausted in the most awesome of ways.  We ate copious amounts of delicious southwestern food, shopped in beautiful boutiques, saw incredible art by famous names and local favorites, went hiking for hours through high country deserts and forests, explored ancestral pueblos and sacred spiritual sites, got heavenly massages, danced to street musicians, roamed the back roads, slept soundly in the loveliest little adobe casita, and had experiences I'll never forget. When we first got to Santa Fe, we were laughing at how cheesy the state motto ("the land of enchantment") sounds, but when we boarded that plane back to the midwest, we totally got it.  It was the first time either of us were able to spend some real time there, and now we know.  New Mexico is, without a doubt, enchanting.

I'll spare you guys the mushy romance stuff (I'm sure you've had your fill after my honeymoon and anniversary posts), but I did want to share a few of the photos we took.  Northern New Mexico might just be one of the absolute best places for photography in the world.  Truly.  The diversity, colors and layers of the landscapes, art, architecture, food, and culture provided endless opportunities for us to take pictures, which is one of our favorite parts of traveling. 

This is just a tiny glimpse into the hundreds of photos we took between our camera and phones.  I'm hoping to find time to go through them all soon and organize them into a nice album, and maybe even put together a video from the images and videos we recorded.  Because I'm still beaming from our adventures though, I wanted to post at least a few shots while the memories are still fresh.
